At the most basic level a computer’s energy consumption is based on 3 things: how much the computer thinks, e.g. CPU (compute), how much readily accessible information is currently in short term memory, e.g. RAM (memory), and how often the computer needs to access its long term memory, e.g. Disk Storage (storage).

A simple and very effective way for AI consumers to reduce AI energy consumption is to ask very specific questions which provide sufficient context in every prompt. The more back and forth clarifications, interpretation and research a question requires; the more energy AI consumes. Asking questions that are very specific reduces energy consumption and also significantly improves the quality of the responses.

The Return of Depression Economics and the Crisis of 2008 was the first important book on economics that I read as part of my MBA program. Paul Krugman makes it easy to understand why the Great Depression happened, and justifies the use of the most effective tool we have available to stop recessions from turning into depressions. Before reading this book, I was more critical of the U.S. Government's rescue of the big banks during the Great Recession. This book made me realize that while the government rescue did in fact reward banks and bank managers for unacceptably poor risk management, we used the only tool available to us that has been effective in turning back the tide of significant economic contraction.
