About Devon 2016

During a lesson on presidential elections my fifth grade school teacher invited our class to campaign to be president at some point in our lives in order to learn more about our political process. He explained that out of civic duty people all throughout America run hobbyist presidential campaigns every four years. In 2016 I campaigned to be President of the United States. I would have to disagree with my teacher and strongly caution you to not campaign to be president. Having said that, I did learn a lot during my campaign. One of the most important points I wanted to highlight to voters and politicians is that truly rational democratic elections where voters choose the candidates who will best represent them are contingent upon easily accessible and comprehensive information about a candidate's views and policy plans once in office. Some people say it takes a lot of financial resources to get your message to the American People. In my opinion the internet changed all that. In 2016, I shared my campaign book, articles on important issues, policy plans and even held an online town hall through my campaign website. The website cost $20 a month. Honestly my campaign had a pretty limited impact, but all the same I decided to clean up my old website and share it here. Hopefully some aspiring politician will see this website, and it will give them some useful ideas on how to get their viewpoints and detailed plans in front of the American People without significant cost.

Please note that I have no present or future interest in campaigning for elected office, working in politics or seeking government employment. Thanks for visiting this site.

Home | About Devon | On The Issues | Why Independent Candidates Matter |

  1. Independent candidates can shift national attention to particular issues.

  2. Independent candidates can take a stance on an issue that disagrees with the stance of both parties, and demonstrate that their stance is more popular with the voting public than the mainstream candidates and two major parties believe.

  3. Independent candidates can build campaign platforms that incorporate the best attributes from both the Republican Platform and the Democratic Platform. If the platform that the independent candidate builds is popular with the American public, politicians and the parties are pushed towards the center of our nation's political dialogue.

  4. If an independent candidate is successful in winning support for his or her political views, the independent candidate may convince major party candidates to incorporate elements of the independent candidate's platform into their own campaign.
